How We Keep The Passion In Our Marriage

Don't you just LOVE a love story?! The passion, the drama, the ability to relate...or not! A marriage is one of the most powerful relationships between two people. A promise to love and connect through all that life has to offer--- forever. Does the passion stay? Can it?

As years pass and a marriage matures, what once was a burning flame of desire can easily fade into a much softer flicker of a birthday cake candle.... Days do become busy, life does get complicated and your children's dreams become the forefront of all your priorities, as they rightfully should be! But this doesn't mean that your romance dwindles into an abyss. Instead it strengthens through each experience, changing into something more radiant... with the right perspective.

Valentine's Day & EVERY DAY, Remember Your Love Story.

I remember the night I saw my husband for the first time--- it was that story book lightening strike people talk about--- here was my soul mate right before me in a cream sweater, chinos and flip flops with a radiantly handsome smile that bewitched my soul--- I was toast. That was it. 19 years old, our fate was sealed. Eight years of growing up together, then a marriage, a puppy, two beautiful children, a mortgage, some great heartache and some vibrant laughs all leading us to today and the continued daily navigation of life's ups and down's. Passion? Yes. For all the good and all the bad.

What can you do to keep passion in your marriage?

CHOOSE each other, EVERY DAY.

Stay healthy in mind and spirit.

Mindfully SEE the person you fell in love with, not so long ago.

When you get disconnected, make the choice to come together again accepting that sometimes a little distance can make the heart grow stronger--- and being OK with the days that will inevitably come, that you just don't feel connected. If you take these days to reconnect with yourself,  it usually brings you back together with renewed excitement!

If not tonight, choose a regular time, when the kids are off to bed, to sit down with your spouse and reconnect over a conversation about the day you fell in love and all the memories in between. Choose each other, because it matters.
